Garima Sharma is a development sector professional with 7+ years of experience spanning education research, child rights, gender and social protection, and policy documentation. Her work lies at the intersection of research design, programme implementation, editorial leadership, and government collaboration, with a consistent focus on marginalised communities in India.

She began her career in education research and curriculum development, working with organisations such as Hearth Advisors and Harappa Education, where she led research design and content development for government schools, NGOs, and international schools. She subsequently led the Education Research vertical at Bharat Uday, supporting foundational learning and life skills education for children in Child Care Institutions across Delhi.

At the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Garima led the end-to-end management of a government peer-reviewed academic journal on children’s rights, from editorial, administrative, and design functions to outreach. She oversaw a team of 45+ professionals, including editors, advisors, peer reviewers, designers, and copyeditors, and grew the journal’s reach to a database of over 5,000 subscribers, authors, librarians, and academics. Concurrently, she contributed as an Associate Editor on research spanning education, protection, and social justice.

As a World Bank South Asia Gender Innovation Lab Fellow, she led a qualitative study on women’s economic empowerment among migrant Muslim households navigating regional conflict—a project that earned a research innovation fellowship grant. She also coordinated the HAQ Centre for Child Rights’ role as Secretariat for India’s Civil Society Alternate Report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

Her academic grounding includes an MA in Education from Ambedkar University Delhi, a PG Diploma in Child Rights Law from National Law School of India University, and a UGC NET qualification in the top 2% of applicants.
