Pooja, of her fifteen or so years of work, about thirteen have been in the social impact space. The last couple of years were in the for-profit world, and she learned a lot there, but she always knew she’d come back.

Social impact has always felt like home to her. There is something about mission-driven organisations that she connects with, and something about the people in them, people who have thought about why they’re doing this and who stay with it long after the interesting part is over. The work Indus Action has been doing is the kind she wants to be close to.

She has worked in a few different roles over the years before landing in the People function. She chose it because the way an organisation treats its people usually determines whether the mission holds up when things get hard. You can’t build access for others if the people doing the building are running on empty.

Outside work, she is happiest either far out somewhere looking at birds and wildlife, or travelling. Equally happy at home though, with a book, a wildlife documentary or a comedy series on, or catching up with friends. She has two cats of her own, plus a few in the neighbourhood who have decided she works for them.
