Shatavisha Banerjee is an award-winning strategist and behavioural insights leader with 18+ years of cross-sector experience at the intersection of strategic thinking, user research, and innovation. With a background in Social Sciences and a postgraduate degree in Marketing Management and Communication, she blends behavioural science, design thinking, and qualitative research to decode human behaviour for impact-led action across brand strategy, corporate innovation, grassroots social impact, and digital public infrastructure design.

What defines her career is a deliberate, sustained “dual-lens” practice—applying Human-Centred Design (HCD) and design thinking with equal depth across corporate innovation and social impact. The same investigative muscle that decodes why a consumer chooses one brand over another is used to understand why a marginalised citizen cannot navigate a welfare portal.

For the corporate sector, she has translated deep user research into business, brand, and advertising innovation across FMCG, BFSI, Automotive, Consumer Tech, Healthcare, eCommerce, Personal Care, Travel, and Lifestyle, influencing product pipelines, customer segmentation, brand re-positioning, and communication strategy.

For the development and social impact sector, she has brought the same precision into systems-level behaviour change, working on projects and developing participatory frameworks for healthcare service and product innovation, climate change, grassroots product innovation, gender inclusion (GESI), and wildlife conservation across foundations such as the Gates Foundation (Global Health Labs), Rockefeller Foundation, New York, USA, USAID India–Winrock International, Institute for Transformative Technologies (ITT), Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), IORA Ecological Solutions, WWF India, and CSR projects over the course of her career.

Currently, she is Associate Director of the Citizen Experience & Learning Lab (CELL) at Indus Action, where she applies behavioural science-led insights and Human-Centred Design (HCD) to redesign India’s welfare delivery for dignity, access, and equity at scale in collaboration with the Product Management function.
